The Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Physician:
Will provide expert medical assessment and management of inpatients and outpatients who have Respiratory diseases within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
Will be responsible for the provision of specialist respiratory services to emergency patients, inpatients and outpatients at the relevant hospitals.
Will ensure provision of high quality services to all patients within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District in keeping with national and international standards
The successful applicant will proactively:
Support the development of Respiratory Services- Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
- Champion the needs of Respiratory patients in the community
- Support and develop respiratory research within the department
The successful position holder must have demonstrated experience with high standard of care in General Respiratory disease management. Additional training in Interstitial Lung disease, sleep medicine and interventional pulmonology with an interest in lung cancer is desired.
The position will be primarily located at Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals but may be varied as agreed with the Director of Medical Services and as approved by the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC) to other facilities in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
