About the role
We are seeking a skilled architectural Project Manager to join our Sydney studio. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee the management and performance of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to contractual standards.
As a Project Manager at Populous, you will work closely with our Directors, project leads, internal teams across the region, and external clients to drive successful outcomes. You’ll combine strong organisational skills with collaborative leadership, playing a key role in maintaining quality and efficiency while supporting the development and growth of our broader project management team and capability.

What will you be engaged in?
As a Project Manager, you will:
- Manage projects from initiation to completion, including onboarding, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and delivery of agreed outcomes.
- Develop design programmes using MS Project.
- Develop and maintain project plans, programmes, budgets, and Work in Progress (WIP) reports to ensure projects remain on track.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and project teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of expectations.
- Monitor project scope, deliverables, and quality requirements to ensure compliance with client objectives, Project Management Plans, Integrated Management Systems, and relevant ISO standards.
- Prepare project documentation, reports, proposals, fee estimates, workplans, and service delivery plans in collaboration with project and market leaders.
- Manage consultant procurement, agreements, invoicing, and project administration to support effective project delivery.
- Support business development activities, bids, research initiatives, and client presentations through project coordination, analysis, and reporting.
- Contribute to design management and project programming activities, including the development of design schedules and coordination of project delivery processes.
What we are looking for
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in project management within the AEC industry, with architectural experience, or adjacent, highly desirable
- Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress
- Experience in report writing and invoicing processes
- Ability to develop briefs and manage sub-consultant agreements
- High-level proficiency in SharePoint, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and InDesign
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
