About Us
EPEC Group is a nationally recognised high-voltage engineering and EPC partner, providing HV power engineering, EPC (for substations, lines and BESS BoP), testing and compliance services, along with market modelling, SCADA and Hardware-in-the-Loop capability.
Since being founded in 2019, EPEC has grown rapidly to become a trusted delivery partner on some of Australia’s most complex renewable energy projects, from 400MW solar farms and 200MW battery storage systems to 132kV substations delivered for international developers entering the Australian market for the first time. Founded by specialists in power system engineering, project delivery and generator compliance, our mission is to simplify the grid connection process and remove the uncertainty that costs projects time and money.
We manage connections to the national electricity market through end-to-end solutions, from pre-enquiry through to connection, registration, testing, compliance and commercial operations. What sets EPEC apart is that everything is delivered in-house: power system modelling, EPC construction, SCADA, commissioning and compliance testing, all under one roof and one point of accountability.
The Role
With a wave of new project wins and a strong pipeline through 2026 and beyond, we are seeking a Project Engineer to oversee and manage the quality of construction projects delivered by EPEC across the East Coast.
You will take technical responsibility for ensuring designs and engineering decisions are technically sound and compliant with Australian Standards, and that projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the required quality. This role is site-heavy, working a 10/4 roster with significant time on project sites across the East Coast.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to projects from proposal through to close-out, covering feasibility, risk mitigation and technical compliance.
- Working closely with the design team to build a detailed understanding of project deliverables, including conduit layouts, cable schedules and electrical clearance assessments.
- Undertaking material take-offs and coordinating with the Project Management team on procurement.
- Developing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ITCs in line with EPEC’s standard process, submitted to the client ahead of site mobilisation.
- Providing technical direction on site, managing construction quality, and supporting pre-commissioning and commissioning activities through to punch list close-out.
- Managing technical RFIs and design or construction change processes and maintaining document registers and quality documentation.
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and EPEC’s delivery partners, and identifying and mitigating risks and safety hazards as they arise.
About You
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical preferred) acceptable for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia at the Professional Engineering level.
- Availability to travel to project site and work a 10/4 roster
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a project coordinator or project engineer.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of high voltage substation and transmission line projects.
- Strong experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with engineering codes, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with high attention to detail in written work.
- Construction White Card and a current Class C driver’s licence.
- Professional engineering or project management certification, RPEQ, or experience in renewables, BESS or HV substation EPC delivery is highly regarded but not essential.
