MEP Project Timeline Planner / Scheduler (NOT a Cost Planner Role)
- Location: Remote (Work From Home) - Anywhere in Australia/New Zealand
- Role Type: Part-Time Contract / Short-Term Consultant
- Duration: Up to 4 Weeks
- Workload: 2–3 Days per Week (Average)
- Department: Pre-Contracts & Tendering Team
About the Opportunity
- Important Notice for Cost Planners: This is strictly a Primavera P6 project timeline planning and scheduling role focused on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) technical logic. Cost planners, commercial managers, and quantity surveyors need not apply.
- We are partnering with a major Tier 1 Infrastructure & Engineering Specialist Contractor to support a high-profile tender submission.
- Due to the complex, services-heavy nature of the project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Timeline Planner / Services-Led Scheduler for an immediate short-term consultancy engagement.
- This is a 100% remote (Work From Home) position spanning up to 4 weeks, averaging 2 to 3 days per week, focusing on tender bid schedule creation, logic network baseline optimization, and peer review for complex, technical work packages.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
- As a core specialist consultant, you will take ownership of developing and optimizing robust project timelines and scheduling logic where mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems dictate the critical path.
- Tender Bid Schedule Creation: Build, optimize, and review Primavera P6 tender programmes and project timelines for complex, services-heavy infrastructure packages.
- Services Sequencing: Logic-linking the installation, energisation, and handover of HVAC/Mechanical, Electrical (HV/LV), Hydraulics/Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Security/SCADA systems.
- Interface & Spatial Clash Management: Structure timeline logic around ceiling void and riser constraints to eliminate physical site bottlenecks between conflicting trades.
- Staged Commissioning & Testing Sequences: Design rigorous post-installation logic sequences covering pre-commissioning, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and performance testing.
- BIM / 4D Model Coordination: Collaborate with BIM leads to align Primavera P6 timelines with coordinated 3D models (Revit / Navisworks) to mitigate site rework.
- Long-Lead Procurement Logic: Track critical path items with extended manufacturing and import lead times (such as chillers, high-voltage switchboards, backup diesel generators, transformers, and lifts).
- Regulatory Compliance Gateways: Sequence mandatory hold-points including essential services certification, electrical compliance sign-offs, and fire authority approvals prior to commercial handover.
About You
- We are seeking a specialist timeline planning professional with a proven background in services-led scheduling rather than general civil earthworks or cost estimation.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Essential: Proven experience building services-led project timelines specifically for complex MEP, electrical, and HVAC packages rather than purely civil/structural-led scopes.
- Essential: Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling, logic network optimization, and critical path timeline analysis.
- Sector Expertise: Demonstrated history of delivering services-heavy infrastructure within sectors such as Data Centres, Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities, Defence Infrastructure, Rail MEP & Tunnel Station Systems, or Complex Commercial High-Rise/Industrial Facilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
