About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pastry Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting a wide variety of high-quality baked goods and desserts, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a broad range of products including bread rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, croissants, pastries, scones, bars, quiches, tarts, and similar baked goods.
- Produce specialty items such as mud cakes, tortes, gateaux, desserts, celebration cakes, children’s cakes, and daily pastry offerings.
- Prepare, mix, knead, shape, mould, and proof sweet and savoury doughs, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Prepare fillings, creams, custards, and other components in accordance with standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients to ensure consistency in production and product output.
- Operate bakery machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, and pastry-processing equipment.
- Monitor baking processes, including oven temperatures, baking times, and product appearance, adjusting as necessary.
- Perform batch production tasks including forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling of products.
- Decorate and finish baked goods using icing, frosting, glazing, and other techniques to meet presentation standards.
- Review daily production schedules to determine required quantities and product variety.
- Conduct quality control checks on ingredients and finished products to ensure high standards and minimise waste.
- Prepare ingredients for production, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, trays, and utensils in accordance with sanitation standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene practices, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and report faults, maintenance needs, or operational issues to management.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times.
Appropriate candidate must have the following skills, education and experience:
Education : Certificate III or Certificate IV or Diploma
Australian Experience : At least 3 + years of Australian Experience OR
Overseas Experience : At least 3+ years of Overseas Experience
Specialist : Pastry / Bakery
Work Rights : Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or Full Work Rights Holder
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents will be preferred. Other applicants with full work rights can apply only if they meet the above criteria.
Pay: $76,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
