Your key responsibilities:
Provision of operational financial accounting services and associated compliance requirements for the Department of Health.
Contribute to the completion of business-as-usual tasks to facilitate efficient and effective monthly, quarterly, and annual processes and reporting, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and in accordance with demanding timescales. This includes contributing to maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, as well as providing guidance to other teams within the Department when assisting in resolving emerging financial accounting issues.
Assist in the quality preparation of financial reconciliations and analytical tasks completed by the team, ensuring all reconciling items and erroneous findings are investigated, followed up, and cleared on a timely basis.

The essential requirements for this role are:
Demonstrates a good understanding of, and recent experience in assisting with, the practical application of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Requirements for Queensland Government Agencies, legislation, contemporary financial management practices and policies.
Demonstrated experience in assisting in the preparation of comprehensive and well-rounded advice to management and other stakeholders and in assisting with the review of policies and procedures.
Demonstrated involvement and success in contributing to continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of operational financial accounting, with demonstrated ability to work within and thrive in successful teams.
Demonstrated experience in the effective use of contemporary financial management information technology, together with experience in assisting with the research, review, interpretation, and analysis of information to assist in formulating recommendations and reports.
