About the job
The Child Safeguarding Coordinator provides specialist advice, coordination and practical support to strengthen Orygen’s approach to child safeguarding, child-safe practice and child safety obligations.
Reporting to the Head of Governance, Strategy and Risk you will:
- Provide expert advice and hands-on support to embed child safeguarding practices across Orygen, strengthening capability and culture at every level
- Coordinate and continuously improve Orygen's Child Safeguarding Framework, policies, tools and training resources to meet legislative, regulatory and sector standards
- Manage child safeguarding risk, reporting and compliance processes, including registers, disclosures, action tracking and governance reporting
- Partner with teams across the organisation to implement practical safeguarding solutions, supporting colleagues to meet their obligations under the Child Safe Standards
- Drive continuous improvement across all child safety systems, documentation and assurance activities, ensuring Orygen remains a leader in child safe practice
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in child safeguarding, child safety, social work, psychology, community services or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in child safeguarding and implementing child-safe practices within complex organisational or community settings
- Proven ability to coordinate training, guidance materials, policies and action plans that drive continuous improvement in child safety
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to prepare clear reports, practical tools and advice for a wide range of stakeholders
- Collaborative, solutions-focused and highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and work flexibly across teams in a dynamic environment

This is part time (0.6FTE), 12-month contract from commencement.
