About the Role:
As Civil Section Manager you will provide overall leadership and direction to the section team under your control and maintain a strong understanding of the day-to-day issues affecting your scope of works. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and support the section team, including the performance and development of Alliance staff.
- Manage key contract and commercial activities, including claims, valuations, variations, EOTs and subcontractor agreements.
- Monitor project programs, costs, budgets and contract performance to support efficient delivery.
- Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors and suppliers to manage resources, procurement and critical project requirements.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders, including managing contractual correspondence and site meetings.
- Maintain a strong focus on HSEQ, sustainable procurement and project compliance.
- Work collaboratively within the Alliance, driving agreed KRAs and KPIs and contributing to shared project goals.
Your skills and experience:
We’re looking for an experienced civil construction professional who can combine technical understanding with strong leadership, commercial awareness and collaborative project delivery. You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar position within the civil construction industry.
- Strong leadership capability and the ability to provide direction to project teams.
- Strong contract management experience, including claims, variations, valuations and subcontractor management.
- The ability to manage programs, costs, budgets and project priorities to support successful delivery.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working collaboratively with clients, consultants and project teams.
- A commitment to HSEQ, sustainable procurement and Alliance values, with a focus on collaboration, trust and shared responsibility.
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Main Roads experience will be highly regarded.
