About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join a small and consistent support team providing person-centred support within South-West Sydney.
The role involves supporting participants with complex disability, communication and daily-living support needs. Experience supporting people with autism, limited or non-verbal communication, structured routines and complex support requirements will be highly regarded.
This is an ongoing role intended for support workers seeking regular shifts and a genuine long-term commitment.
Continuity and consistency are extremely important within this support environment. We are looking for support workers who are prepared to take the time to learn each participant's individual communication styles, routines, behaviours, preferences and support needs while developing trusted and professional relationships with participants and their families.
Fluency in Bengali is required for this particular position due to the communication requirements of the support environment and the need to communicate effectively with participants and/or their family.
This is a language and communication requirement only. Applicants are not required to be Bangladeshi or of any particular race, ethnicity or national origin.
Familiarity with Bangladeshi culture, family values and household practices is highly desirable and may assist in providing culturally responsive and respectful support.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
● Providing high-quality, person-centred support within participants' homes and the community
● Supporting participants with autism and complex support needs
● Supporting participants who are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication
● Learning and following established routines, communication methods and participant-specific support strategies
● Recognising non-verbal cues, behaviours and changes in presentation
● Supporting emotional and sensory regulation
● Maintaining a calm, structured and predictable support environment
● Encouraging independence and participation in appropriate daily activities
● Assisting with activities of daily living and personal care where required
● Supporting community access, appointments, recreational activities and social participation
● Supporting participants to safely engage with their community
● Following behaviour support strategies and Behaviour Support Plans where applicable
● Implementing risk-management and safety strategies
● Maintaining clear, accurate and professional progress notes
● Reporting incidents, concerns or changes in participant presentation appropriately
● Communicating effectively with participants, their families, Sydney Disability Support management and other members of the support team
● Maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, dignity and privacy
● Respecting individual cultural values, household practices and preferences
● Following NDIS Quality and Safeguarding requirements and Sydney Disability Support policies and procedures

● Familiarity with Bangladeshi culture, family values and household practices is highly desirable
● Cultural sensitivity and willingness to learn and respect individual family practices and preferences are important

This role is specifically intended for workers seeking consistent and ongoing employment with the same participants.
Due to the nature of the support provided, continuity and reliability are essential.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate reliable ongoing availability and a genuine interest in providing consistent long-term support.
This position may not be suitable for applicants seeking only occasional or short-term shifts.
Essential Requirements
Successful applicants must meet all applicable worker-screening and compliance requirements before undertaking duties requiring those clearances.
Requirements include:
● Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or ability to complete the required screening process
● Current paid Working with Children Check, where required for the duties of the position
● Current National Police Check
● Current First Aid Certificate
● Current CPR Certificate
● Completion of required NDIS Worker Orientation Modules
● Valid Australian Driver Licence
● Reliable vehicle
● Current vehicle registration
● Appropriate comprehensive or relevant motor vehicle insurance
● Australian working rights
● Ability to meet Sydney Disability Support onboarding and compliance requirements
● Ability to communicate fluently in Bengali for the requirements of this position
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications are highly regarded, including:
● Certificate III in Individual Support
● Certificate III or IV in Disability Support
● Certificate IV in Community Services
● Assistant in Nursing qualification
● Diploma of Nursing
● Bachelor of Nursing students
● Other relevant health, disability or community-services qualifications
Applicants with substantial relevant disability-support experience may also be considered.
