Bogan Shire Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Gardener to join our Development & Environmental Services team. This seasonal role plays a key part in maintaining attractive, well‑presented streetscapes and greenspaces across the Shire, contributing to high‑quality public amenity for residents and visitors.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical outdoor work and wants to build skills in horticulture, plant care and green space maintenance.
As a Gardener, you will carry out routine plant and lawn care, maintain Council‑managed gardens and parks, and ensure public areas remain clean, tidy and safe. This includes plant health monitoring, fertilising, watering, weeding, trimming, mowing and whipper‑snipping.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing routine inspections of parks and greenspaces, including litter removal and leaf raking
- General watering, weeding, mowing, edging and garden bed maintenance
- Monitoring plant health and completing fertilising, trimming and nurturing tasks
- Assisting with irrigation system maintenance under supervision
- Operating and maintaining Council plant and equipment, including mowers, whipper snippers and trimmers
- Completing accurate daily records such as timesheets, tasking sheets and plant operating sheets
- Grade 2: $1,049.98 to $1,199.96 based on qualifications and experience

You have:
- General knowledge of lawn care, garden bed and plant maintenance, with the ability to produce high‑quality work across streetscapes and greenspaces
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute positively within a team
- Clear communication skills and the ability to interpret works programs
- Strong organisational skills, problem‑solving ability and the capacity to manage competing priorities
- Safe manual handling skills and experience in small plant operation
- Numeracy and literacy levels typically associated with Year 10 education
- Current Safe Work NSW WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Current Class C or P2 driver licence
- Australian residency or valid work visa
Desirable:
- MR licence
- ChemCert accreditation
- Traffic Controller Card
- Implement Traffic Control Plans Card
- First Aid Certificate
