Our professional services across the government and private sector include consulting, technical, scientific and project delivery with projects expanding across commercial and residential developments, tunnelling services, environmental assessments, water Infrastructure, instrumentation and monitoring, laboratory and earthwork testing, pavement design and testing, renewable resources, landslip and slope stability assessment and field geotechnical investigations and assessments.
The Role
In this role you will have the opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of challenging projects and work with a diverse and dynamic team of passionate geotechnical engineers, while assisting them in delivering multi-disciplinary projects for a range of diverse clients based locally and nationally.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in select training programs in conjunction with Engineers Australia and/or other providers.
Main responsibilities include the following:
- Participate in project delivery, ensuring work outputs are of a high technical standard, and quality assured
- Perform project planning, calculations and computations associated with geotechnical engineering, analyse geomaterials laboratory test results, and field observations
- Perform geotechnical field investigations, including drilling and logging, and DCP, Shear Vane, LWD and FWD testing
- Collect field samples and perform field logging of exploratory test holes, and undertake and manage field testing
- Performing geotechnical analysis and assessments
- Prepare geotechnical factual and design reports
- Developing design/construction documents and specifications
- Preparation of tenders and proposals
- Contribute to technical discussions including attending and participating in client/team progress meetings and training/mentoring of junior engineers
- Where required, communicate directly with clients and other stakeholders; manage customer relationships
- Demonstrate exceptional time management skills to manage multiple assignments at any given time
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following:
· Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology
- 3+ years’ experience in Geotechnical investigation and reporting (minimum)
· Valid Australian driving licence
· White card
· Full Australian working rights
· Willingness to travel for work within NSW (for short or extended periods)
- High standard of computer literacy
- Client focus
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal (to liaise with clients)
- Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time
effectively
· A willingness to take a hands-on approach
- Be a strong team player with the capability of also being able to work autonomously
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, management, customers
and stakeholders
