Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Small Engine Mechanic to maintain, repair, and service equipment used in our concrete cutting operations. This includes saws, drills, and other petrol- and diesel-powered machinery. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to keep equipment running safely and efficiently to support field crews. Looking for an older individual with industry experience open to flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines and mechanical equipment (e.g., concrete saws, core drills, generators)
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical, fuel, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Maintain accurate service records and maintenance logs
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and is job-ready
- Order and manage parts and inventory as needed
- Assist with equipment setup and occasional field repairs when required
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or similar role
- Strong knowledge of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines
- Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with construction or concrete cutting equipment or other small engines
- Welding or fabrication skills (a plus)
- OSHA safety knowledge or certifications
