The Role
We are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling and finishing steel framing components to engineering specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Fabricate, assemble and install light gauge steel frames, trusses and associated components.
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, punch and prepare steel sections using hand tools, power tools and production machinery.
- Operate roll-forming equipment, saws, punches and other fabrication machinery safely and efficiently.
- Carry out MIG welding and other fabrication tasks where required.
- Assemble fabricated components using bolts, screws, rivets and welding techniques.
- Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and rectify fabrication defects and report any quality or production issues.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with production supervisors, warehouse staff and other team members to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines.
- Assist with loading, handling and movement of fabricated steel products using appropriate lifting equipment where required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent qualification).
- At least two years' experience as a Metal Fabricator or in a similar fabrication role.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Experience using fabrication machinery, hand tools and measuring equipment.
- MIG welding experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift licence and overhead crane experience are desirable but not essential.
Salary
AUD $80,000–$85,000 per annum + superannuation
