The Opportunity
This newly created specialist role sits at the intersection of engineering, energy performance and innovation.
As our Measure & Verification & Controls Performance Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in optimising the performance of one of Australia's largest supermarket refrigeration and HVAC networks. Working across a national portfolio, you'll use data, controls expertise and operational insight to validate energy savings, identify performance opportunities and support the future of refrigeration and HVAC optimisation.
Partnering closely with Coles Engineering, operational teams and industry specialists, you'll measure and verify energy outcomes, support emerging refrigeration technologies, drive controls performance improvements and oversee critical lifecycle replacement programs.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Measure, verify and report on energy savings delivered through upgrades, optimisation initiatives and controls improvements.
- Identify underperforming sites using metering, BMS/EMS and operational performance data.
- Lead refrigeration controls lifecycle replacement projects across obsolete platforms.
- Support refrigeration and HVAC innovation through trials, pilots and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide performance reporting, insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy or related Engineering discipline; or Trade qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning with significant industry experience.
- Experience in Measurement & Verification (M&V) and energy performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration and HVAC control systems, including supermarket refrigeration systems.
- Experience interpreting and analysing Building Management System (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS) data.
- Experience in controls lifecycle replacement, commissioning, optimisation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to effectively engage with engineering, operations, contractors and service partners.
