Siemens is looking for an experienced Principal Engineer – Grid Connection to provide technical leadership across our growing portfolio of renewable energy and grid connection projects in Australia and internationally.
This is a senior, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to be recognised as a technical authority, while also having the opportunity to shape strategy, mentor engineers and influence major project outcomes.
A key focus of this role is extending Siemens’ technical delivery capability into international markets. You’ll work alongside leading OEMs to develop and validate equipment models against diverse grid codes, helping deliver high-quality grid connection solutions across different jurisdictions.
You’ll combine deep power systems expertise with commercial thinking, working with clients, network operators and leading OEMs to solve complex grid connection challenges.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead complex power system studies across steady-state, RMS and EMT analysis using PSS®E, PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory
- Provide technical leadership and sign-off across grid connection studies, compliance assessments and project deliverables
- Lead international project delivery, adapting methodologies to different grid codes, network requirements and regulatory frameworks
- Work directly with global OEMs to develop, benchmark and validate models for wind, solar PV, BESS, synchronous condensers and hybrid plants
- Support the validation of plant controllers and equipment models against FAT, commissioning and disturbance data
- Mentor and develop engineers, strengthen technical capability and help shape Siemens’ grid connection offering.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be an experienced power systems professional with strong expertise in grid connection and renewable energy projects, along with hands-on experience in PSS®E, PSCAD and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory. You’ll understand system strength, power quality, protection, fault ride-through and stability studies, and be confident working with clients, network operators and OEMs.
Just as importantly, you’ll bring strong communication and commercial skills, with the confidence to influence technical outcomes and represent Siemens as a trusted expert. Experience working across international grid codes or projects would be highly valued.
