As a Youth Worker / Support Worker, you’ll support children and young people in care, helping them achieve their goals and thrive in safe, nurturing environments.
Join our Children, Youth & Families team as we grow our team and transform the lives of children, young people, foster and kinship carers and families in the Mackay area.
Each day you will:
- Deliver care and plan activities aligned with individual care arrangements.

Role model positive behaviours and age-appropriate strategies.

Share insights and updates on the progress of the individuals we care for.

Safely transport young people for planned and unplanned activities.

Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with organisational standards.

Deliver culturally inclusive services, especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Ideally you bring to the team:
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Certificate III in Community Services (or equivalent experience).

A current driver’s licence (P2 minimum) is required for the role.

Understanding of challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Recent experiences working with children, young people, and families.

Strong relationship building and role modelling skills.

Knowledge of Child Protection and Domestic & Family Violence legislation.

Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Essential for the role.
Child Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our robust screening and recruitment processes help ensure we engage the right people to support children and young people. This role will require the following to be obtained before commencing:

Possess a National Police Check,

Working with Children (Blue Card),

Licensed Care Service (Child Protection) or the ability to acquire.

Not for profit salary packaging up to $18,549 which could be used for up to $15,900 (for common living expenses like rent, mortgage, school fees and many more) and up to $2,650 for meals and entertainment.
