Berrigan Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality financial services and support informed decision-making across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining strong financial governance, compliance and sustainability for a progressive rural Council.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading and managing the Finance Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Leading and overseeing Council’s Budgets and Long-Term Financial Plans
- Delivering accurate and timely statutory and management financial reporting
- Coordinating the preparation and external audit of Council’s Annual Financial Statements
- Overseeing key financial operations including rates, payroll, accounts payable and receivable
- Identifying financial risks and opportunities and supporting effective financial management of Council’s Cash and Investments
What You’ll Need:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
- Full membership or qualification for full membership of professional accounting body (CPA or CA)
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- A valid Class C drivers’ licence

This is a full-time position classified as Grade P (Entry Level) under Council’s current salary structure. The salary range is $132,394.99 to $149,011.95 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus 12% superannuation and a vehicle allowance.
The role is based on a 70-hour, 9-day fortnight, with employment conditions in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
