Your new role
Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a customer-focused Senior IT Support Officer to play a key role in keeping Council’s technology services reliable, responsive and easy for staff to use.
In this role, you will provide advanced technical support, resolve complex service requests, assist with technology implementations, and help drive practical improvements across the IT Service Desk. You will also coordinate minor projects, mentor team members, and contribute to clear documentation and user training that strengthens Council’s overall IT capability.
This position requires eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC), including Australian citizenship and Police background checks arranged by Council.
What we are looking for
- Strong IT support experience across hardware, software, network, Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure and InTune, and business application environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, manage competing priorities and deliver quality customer service.
- Experience coordinating and delivering minor technology projects and work packages, including solution evaluation, implementation, documentation and transition to ongoing support.
- Good communication, teamwork and mentoring skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.

Application Criteria
- Relevant IT qualification/s and/or demonstrated experience in an IT support environment resolving complex IT support requests.
- Sound knowledge of Windows domain network support, networking concepts, Microsoft 365, Microsoft operating systems, Azure and InTune, and, business applications.
- Well-developed customer service, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, explain technical issues clearly and support positive outcomes for end users
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver minor technology projects and work packages, including solution evaluation, implementation, documentation and transition to ongoing support.
