What you will do
As senior prison officer, you will lead prison officers and help maintain a safe, secure and respectful prison.
You will coach your team, support rehabilitation and respond to daily operational needs with confidence.
You will:
- lead prison officers and support the safe daily operation of prison accommodation and security areas
- coach staff through training, feedback and regular performance conversations
- manage complex case loads and help people in custody work towards rehabilitation
- respond to incidents, direct emergency operations and maintain prison security
- prepare reports, complete records and promote safe work practices across your team.
About you
You must hold a current Victorian driver licence, or at least a P2 licence, before you start. You must also obtain a current Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid before commencement. You will need to complete Prison Officer Pre-Service Training if you have not already done so. A Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Custodial), or a similar qualification, is desirable.
You should also have:
- experience leading staff in a correctional or similar statutory setting
- knowledge of correctional legislation, policies and offender case management
- strong judgement, communication skills and the ability to solve problems
- resilience, leadership and a commitment to inclusion and rehabilitation.
