About the Role
We’re looking for a Digital Content Specialist to join our growing Digital Marketing team. In this role, you will drive the creation, execution, and optimisation of our content strategy across our expanding digital footprint. Reporting directly to our Digital Experience Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our content is purposeful, well structured, and highly visible to both traditional search engines and emerging AI platforms.

In this role, you will:

Create and execute the content roadmap for Retail’s Living Energy blog, ensuring content is purposeful, well-structured, and optimised for both search and LLM discovery.

Develop a strategy for content beyond our web experience, including earned media placements, industry publications, and syndication opportunities that build authority in the Energy industry.

Write, brief, and edit content, working closely with internal SMEs, external contributors, and business approved AI toolsets.

Work closely with the wider digital team across web experience, CRO, and performance media to ensure content directly supports conversion and self-service outcomes.

Proactively work to influence how Retail appears in AI model training signals including review platforms, industry award submissions, and community discussions.

Define the metrics for measuring content success and build a framework to assess its effectiveness on uplifting customer experience and driving sales outcomes.

Track and report on organic search performance, content engagement, and AI visibility trends, using these insights to continuously refine our strategy.

Build collaborative relationships with internal SMEs to design content strategies aligned with future business growth, maintaining regular and deliberate communication to understand changing priorities.
What we’re looking for:

3+ years in a dedicated SEO, GEO, or Content role, ideally within the energy industry

Strong understanding of generative engine optimisation (GEO) and how large language models (LLMs) surface and cite content.
- Proven expertise with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including hands-on experience with event tracking, custom dimensions/metrics, and exploration reports.
- Strong ability to explain complex topics and analytics insights clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of technical understanding.

A commitment to customer experience, sharp attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, adaptability, and the ability to influence others.
- Hands-on knowledge of LLM/SEO visibility measurement platforms (such as SEMrush) and a baseline working knowledge of data privacy regulations (like GDPR and CCPA).
