Thornleigh Vet Hospital is looking for a passionate, experienced and motivated Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident senior nurse who loves clinical nursing, enjoys supporting a team and wants to play an important role in the day-to-day running and continued growth of a busy veterinary hospital.
About the Role
As Head Veterinary Nurse, you’ll be a key member of our leadership team, working closely with our veterinarians and nursing team to ensure our patients receive exceptional standards of care.
Your role will include:

Leading, mentoring and supporting our veterinary nursing team

Coordinating the day-to-day nursing operations of the hospital

Maintaining high standards of patient care, nursing protocols and workplace safety

Supporting nurses with clinical cases, anaesthesia, surgery and hospitalisation

Overseeing nursing workflows, rosters and delegation
-
Assisting with staff training, onboarding and ongoing professional development
-
Managing inventory, equipment and pharmacy requirements
-
Helping develop and implement clinical protocols and processes
-
Supporting a positive, collaborative and professional workplace culture

Working alongside the practice leadership team to continually improve the hospital
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

A Cert IV Vet Nurse with minimum 3 years vet nurse experience

Confident working in a busy hospital environment

Passionate about high-quality patient and client care
-
A natural leader who enjoys mentoring and developing others
-
Highly organised, proactive and able to prioritise effectively
-
Confident with anaesthesia, surgical nursing and hospitalised patients
-
A strong communicator who works well within a team
-
Calm and capable under pressure
-
Professional, reliable and genuinely committed to the veterinary industry
Previous leadership or senior nursing experience will be highly regarded.
