Job Summary
Operating within Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance function, the Spare Parts Interpreter supports safe, reliable and efficient airport operations through the accurate identification, sourcing, procurement, receipt, storage and issue of spare parts, components and consumables.
Reporting to the National Fleet Manager, the role works closely with GSE technicians, workshop manager, internal stakeholders and approved suppliers to maintain parts availability, effective inventory control, accurate purchasing records and minimal equipment downtime across a fast-paced aviation environment.
Your activities

Interpret and accurately identify GSE spare parts using manufacturer catalogues, technical manuals, equipment details, serial numbers and electronic parts systems.

Source and procure fit-for-purpose parts, components, consumables, tools and workshop materials from approved suppliers, considering availability, quality, lead time and total cost.

Raise, track and close purchase orders in accordance with company purchasing procedures, financial delegations and approval requirements.

Receive, inspect and process incoming goods, verifying part numbers, quantities and condition against purchase orders and delivery documentation.

Maintain appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels and complete regular cycle counts, stocktakes and inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.

Monitor parts usage and stock trends, identifying critical, slow-moving, obsolete or surplus inventory and recommending appropriate action.

Monitor critical parts, backorders and outstanding purchase orders, escalating supply risks and expediting urgent requirements to minimise GSE downtime.

Coordinate freight and parts movements between suppliers, workshops and operational locations, including urgent or time-critical requirements.

Support GSE technicians and workshop teams with planned maintenance, breakdown and urgent repair requirements, ensuring parts are issued against the correct job or work order.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory, purchasing, receipting, supplier and parts-usage records within relevant business systems.

Coordinate supplier quotations, repairable components, warranties, returns, credits and invoice queries in accordance with company procedures.

Build effective supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance across safety, quality, cost, availability and delivery.

Supervise and coordinate day-to-day parts and stores activities, supporting consistent service standards and workshop priorities.

Ensure parts and stores areas remain organised, secure and compliant with WHS, company, airport and applicable operational requirements.

Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, parts availability, supplier performance, systems and cost efficiency.
About You
You will ideally have:

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Coordinator, Storeperson, Inventory Controller or in a similar parts-focused role.

Experience within aviation, transport, fleet, automotive, heavy vehicle, plant, material handling or Ground Support Equipment environments.

Strong mechanical parts knowledge and demonstrated ability to interpret technical manuals, manufacturer catalogues and equipment information.

Experience with purchasing, purchase orders, goods receipting, inventory control, stocktakes and supplier coordination.

Confidence using computerised inventory, procurement, ERP or maintenance management systems, with the ability to learn new systems quickly. Extensive experience with Maximo highly preferred.

Strong internal customer service, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Excellent organisation and problem-solving capability, with the ability to manage competing priorities and urgent operational requirements.

High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accurate records and data integrity.Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is desirable.

Current Australian driver's licence.

Aviation or Ground Support Equipment maintenance experience is highly regarded
