Role Summary
The Supply and Distribution Manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the procurement, storage, transportation, inventory management and distribution of products throughout the supply chain. The role ensures that imported and locally sourced products are procured efficiently, stored appropriately, and distributed to customers in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and company standards.
The position plays a critical role in managing supplier relationships, overseeing inventory control, coordinating logistics operations, and implementing strategies to improve operational efficiency, customer service levels and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to ensure continuous product availability and operational efficiency.
- Monitor supply chain performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions to product supply and distribution activities.
- Analyse market trends and demand forecasts to support procurement and inventory planning.
- Identify, evaluate and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers.
- Establish and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure reliable product supply.
- Negotiate supply agreements, contracts and purchasing terms to achieve commercial objectives.
- Coordinate procurement activities to ensure inventory levels meet business requirements.
- Oversee inventory planning, stock control and replenishment processes.
- Develop inventory management policies and procedures.
- Coordinate warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, stock rotation and dispatch activities.
- Manage relationships with freight providers, logistics companies and distribution partners.
- Evaluate transportation costs and develop strategies to improve distribution efficiency.
- Ensure effective route planning and resource allocation to optimise logistics operations.
- Coordinate import activities and ensure compliance with customs regulations and import requirements.
- Monitor shipping schedules, customs clearance processes and international freight arrangements.
- Ensure import documentation is complete and compliant with applicable legislation.
- Assess international supply risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Prepare and manage supply chain, procurement and distribution budgets.
- Analyse operational data and prepare reports for senior management.
- Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives through data-driven recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry regulations and company policies.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, import, transportation and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments relating to suppliers, logistics providers and supply chain operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support compliance and operational excellence.
- Lead, supervise and support supply chain, warehouse and logistics personnel.
- Collaborate with sales, finance, procurement and operations teams to achieve business objectives.
About you
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of full-time work experience in a Supply and Distribution Manager, Supply Chain Coordinator, Logistics Manager, Procurement Manager, Import Operations Manager or a closely related position.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management, procurement, logistics and distribution operations.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience working within wholesale, retail, import/export, FMCG, grocery distribution or related industries is highly desirable.

Relevant Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Trade, International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Management or a related discipline.
