Sutherland Shire Council is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Coordinator Infrastructure Project Planning to lead our Project Planning team.
This is a unique opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of community assets, including buildings, parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities, and play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure outcomes for our community. You’ll join a collaborative and dynamic environment where your work will directly influence how our spaces are planned, designed and experienced.
As part of the Asset Strategy and Delivery Division, you will contribute to the long-term management and delivery of Council’s infrastructure through a structured four-year capital works program. Sitting within the Infrastructure Planning & Design unit, this role focuses on setting projects up for success during the critical planning phase.
You’ll be involved in shaping major initiatives such as the master planning of priority parks and reserves, significant asset renewals and upgrades, and the expansion of community infrastructure. The role also contributes to broader strategic work, including recreational service analysis and plans of management.
Working closely with the Infrastructure Planning and Design Manager, you’ll lead the early stages of projects—guiding them from concept through feasibility and into delivery readiness—ensuring they are strategically aligned, well-defined and achievable.
You’ll lead project planning activities, including developing project briefs, coordinating feasibility studies, and determining approval pathways. Working closely with stakeholders, consultants and internal teams, you’ll guide projects through the planning phase and into delivery.
You’ll also provide strategic advice, manage consultants, and collaborate across Asset Management, Design and Construction teams to ensure high-quality outcomes for the community.
You hold qualifications in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering or a related field, with experience in project planning and management.
You’re a strong communicator and strategic thinker who can lead teams, manage complexity and build effective relationships. You bring a proactive mindset, sound judgement, and a commitment to delivering practical, community-focused outcomes.
This is an opportunity to lead meaningful infrastructure projects, work with a collaborative team, and deliver lasting value for the Sutherland Shire community.
If you’re ready to lead impactful infrastructure projects and help shape the future of Sutherland Shire, we’d love to hear from you.
