The Senior Publications Officer plays a key role in VicGrid's work to support the development of new transmission and renewable energy zones in Victoria. This position applies knowledge of the energy sector and best-practice stakeholder and community engagement to produce publications that support VicGrid's work developing renewable energy zones and transmission infrastructure.
The Opportunity
The Senior Publications Officer develops and delivers publications and engagement collateral for a broad range of audiences and stakeholders (including local communities and landholders), developing, writing and editing documents and other communication material. They will work closely with stakeholders to develop clear, effective communications that align with government policy and community expectations. The role applies a high level of editorial judgement and attention to detail to develop, review, copy-edit and proofread communication materials, ensuring they are accurate, accessible and aligned with VicGrid's style and brand standards.
What you will deliver

Manage the development of communications and engagement collateral that informs stakeholders about VicGrid's role in delivering the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework, Victorian Transmission Plan, renewable energy zones and transmission projects.

Identify important community and stakeholder issues, constraints and needs to ensure communication materials are timely, relevant, and tailored based on local values, concerns and preferences.

Convey complex concepts and information through clear, engaging communications materials, such as factsheets, community summaries, social media and other online content, articles, and direct communication with landholders and stakeholders.

Provide copy editing, proofreading and editorial quality assurance for publications, engagement materials and corporate communications, ensuring consistency, accuracy and alignment with VicGrid standards.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and work cross-functionally with other members of the Communications and Engagement team to develop and deliver engaging and strategic print and digital content.
What you will bring

Prior experience operating in a similar publications role in government on complex major projects with political sensitivities is highly desirable. A background in journalism will be well regarded.

High-level communication, writing and editorial skills, including demonstrated experience planning, writing, copy editing, proofreading and managing production of communication materials across print and digital channels. Exceptional attention to detail, sound editorial judgement and commitment to quality assurance are essential.

Strong interpersonal, stakeholder engagement and consultative skills, including the capacity to manage sensitive internal issues and build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders.

Preferred candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening, including a Declaration and Consent form and a National Police Check.
