We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Commissioning Technician to join Powertech on an Iron Ore Project.
Position Overview:
Roster: 2:1
Start Date: Mid-Late August 2026
Hours: 10.5 hours per day
Rate: Excellent rates $$$
Superannuation paid on ALL hours worked
Duration: 6+ months work
Location: Pilbara
POH: Flights will be covered from any major capital in Australia
Scope of Work:
Execute mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in accordance with project procedures and commissioning plans.
Perform mechanical inspections, punch listing, and system walk-downs to verify installation quality and readiness for commissioning.
Support flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, leak testing, and functional testing of mechanical systems.
Assist with commissioning of conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, compressors, piping systems, tanks, and associated plant equipment.
Verify equipment alignment, lubrication, rotation checks, and mechanical integrity prior to start-up.
Interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment datasheets, and vendor documentation.
Identify, record, and assist in resolving mechanical defects and non-conformances during commissioning.
Work closely with engineering, construction, electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams to achieve safe and efficient system handovers.
Complete commissioning records, test sheets, checklists, and turnover documentation accurately and on time.
Participate in commissioning risk assessments, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work activities.
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with site safety standards, environmental requirements, and quality procedures.
Assist with troubleshooting mechanical equipment during commissioning and start-up.
Support performance testing and reliability verification of mechanical systems.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping within commissioning work areas.

Qualified Fitter/Mechanical tradesperson
Trade Certificate
CPR / LVR certificates
First Aid
Confined space OR Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment
White card
