Maxlife Care is a leading Doctor-led NDIS provider, delivering personalised and clinically robust support to participants with complex needs. With in-house medical leadership at our core, we are committed to setting the standard for what great quality and risk management looks like in the NDIS space.
As we continue to grow across NSW, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on quality and risk leader who is passionate about both safeguarding our clients and empowering frontline teams through practical, real-world systems and support.
This is a key Executive Leadership Team role and it’s one for a quality and risk professional who with strong leadership experience but still loves being close to the work, the houses, the people, and the day-to-day realities of complex care.
Our values — care, empathy, integrity, diversity and innovation — guide every decision we make. Our culture is captured simply: Being and Belonging. This is The Maxlife Way.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Quality & Risk is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for ensuring Maxlife Care has exceptional quality safeguards in place, maintains full accreditation under NDIS Practice Standards, the Attendant Care Industry Standard (ACIS) and RACGP General Practice Standards, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
This is a role for a quality and compliance leader who is equally at home analysing risk data and walking the floor of a supported independent living home. You will serve as the primary expert on regulatory compliance and quality governance, partnering closely with clinical, operational and people and culture teams to translate obligations into practice, and insights into improvement.
As a member of the extended leadership group, you will report to the CEO and provide regular compliance updates to the Board and Clinical Governance Committee. Your work will directly protect participants, support our workforce, and position Maxlife Care as a provider of genuine excellence in the NDIS sector.
In this role you will:
- Partner with operations to ensure quality systems and processes are embedded across the business
- Use data to provide trends and insights that inform areas for continuous improvement.
- Lead all accreditation and audit activity across NDIS Practice Standards, ACIS and RACGP General Practice Standards — maintaining audit readiness, driving corrective actions and embedding findings into frontline practice.
- Manage restrictive practice compliance end-to-end, including DCJ Restrictive Practice Authorisation Panels, portal finalisation via DCJ and PRODA, and monthly usage reporting.
- Oversee behavioural governance in collaboration with the Behavioural Lead — ensuring Behavioural MDT meetings are outcomes-focused and that Behaviour Support Plans are effective, evidence-based and aligned with NDIS Commission requirements.
- Own the full policy and document governance cycle, guiding subject matter experts through scheduled reviews and ensuring all policies, SOPs and forms remain current and compliant with legislative and regulatory standards.
- Oversee mandatory incident reporting to the NDIS Commission, manage investigations and liaise directly with regulators to resolve matters — translating trends into systemic improvement initiatives with operational, clinical and P&C teams.
- Maintain and evolve the organisational Risk Framework, Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Matrix, working with the ELT to ensure controls are active and providing quarterly Board reporting on the risk profile.
- Ensure compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), audit privacy practices across the organisation, and manage incidents including liaison with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
- Serve as the primary compliance point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and participate actively in the Work Health & Safety (WHS) and Clinical Governance Committees.
You will bring:
You are a seasoned quality and compliance professional who brings both strategic capability and genuine operational depth. You understand what it takes to sustain accreditation in a complex, growing organisation, and you know how to bring people along with you — not just enforce standards, but build a culture where quality is everyone’s business.
- Tertiary qualifications in Health, Human Services, Law, Compliance or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a compliance, audit or quality assurance role within the NDIS, disability services or broader healthcare sector.
- In-depth working knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Commission, Restrictive Practice legislation and Behaviour Support frameworks.
- A strong advocate for AI to reduce complexity, improve quality and optimise efficiency.
- Demonstrated experience managing accreditation processes (NDIS, ACIS or RACGP preferred) and engaging with external regulatory and audit bodies.
- Familiarity with DCJ and PRODA portal processes for restrictive practice authorisation and reporting.
- Solid understanding of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and its application in a healthcare or disability context.
- Strong data and analytical skills, including the ability to manage data across multiple NDIS and internal platforms.
- An excellent communicator and relationship builder — comfortable advising senior leaders and engaging with frontline teams, regulators and families alike.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (Paid Employment) required.
