About the role
As a Mechanical Engineer at Polytex, you will design, maintain, and optimise machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems that support the manufacture of high-quality agricultural storage solutions. Working closely with production, maintenance, and operations teams, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhance equipment reliability, and ensure safe, efficient manufacturing processes. Your expertise will directly contribute to the production of innovative products that help protect and store Australian produce.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections, settings, calibration, daily test runs of equipment for quality control.
- Oversee maintenance schedules & troubleshoot issues like axis misalignment in CNC, imbalanced pressure systems, overheating, wear & tear of parts and calculate the parts remaining life to ensure that optimum performance of equipment is maintained, thereby reducing production delays and maintenance costs. Also, review and analyse plant layout to improve equipment placement, workflow, and material movement for smoother operations.
- Using CAD software to design and modify custom tooling & fixtures like electrodes, nozzles, dyes, and clamps etc.
- Lead and assist the production team by providing training on machinery operation, maintaining maintenance records.
- Enhance production efficiency by optimising production schedules after ensuring that CNC machines, Hot Air Miller, and other critical equipment operate at maximum efficiency while adhering to engineering principles and safety standards.
- Manage maintenance plans, and perform necessary repairs, if equipment performance does not meet efficiency expectations.
