Join Chevron Australia Downstream as a Terminal Operator at our Mackay Terminal. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help keep terminal operations safe, compliant, and efficient, supporting product movements, stock control, equipment checks and customer service across a critical operating site.
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, with some additional hours required when vessel receipts or terminal activities occur in the evening, on weekends or on public holidays.

About the Role
Reporting to the Terminal Manager, you’ll work as part of a close-knit operations team to support the safe receipt, storage and dispatch of fuel products while meeting Chevron’s safety, health, environment and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
Prepare the terminal for vessel discharge, determine tank ullages, reconcile stocks, and conduct product quality testing
Perform tank‑to‑tank transfers as required
Issue permits, coordinate contractor activities and maintain safe work practices on site
Complete terminal inspections, routine maintenance checks and basic operational troubleshooting
Provide support to tanker drivers using gantry loading systems and complete driver inductions and assessments
Identify operational issues, raise safety concerns and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What You Will Bring to the Team
We’re looking for someone with a practical background, strong safety focus and a willingness to learn. You’ll be reliable, hands-on and comfortable working in an operational environment where teamwork and attention to detail matter.
Experience in terminal operations, industrial operations, maintenance or a similar hands-on environment
A qualification in operations, mechanical trade or a related discipline will be highly regarded
A strong commitment to safety, compliance and following procedures
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors and drivers
A high level of discipline, reliability and attention to detail
Experience in fuel, chemical, shipping or other major hazard facility environments will be an advantage
