About the role:
You’ll join a diverse, collaborative group of specialists who design with community in mind , delivering excellence for water clients across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas. With a strong pipeline of water supply and sewerage projects for key Queensland water authorities, this role offers the chance to contribute locally while also engaging in projects across the wider APAC region. As a Principal Civil Engineer , you will provide professional engineering skills in the areas of water and wastewater infrastructure along with the following:
- Perform engineering design tasks of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Assist with developing and managing project scope including writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts
- Lead and manage site investigations, engineering assessments and data analysis activities
- Supervise the work of other project resources, including setting the project budget and their schedules for completing the work in conjunction with Project Manager(s)
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, strengthening capability and fostering a high-performance, growth-oriented team culture
- Lead by example, delivering all work in line with Stantec’s Core Values and commitment to excellence
- Assist project teams in the evaluation of risks and in the preparation and presentation of documents
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors

Qualifications
- Tertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering field along with CPEng and RPEQ (or ability to obtain)
- Chartered Engineer status is desirable
- Strong technical experience in potable water supply, gravity and pumped sewerage systems, and recycled water networks
- Experience in water and wastewater treatment plants for regional and urban water authorities (highly desirable but not essential)
- Expertise dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies.
