Summary:
The Grade 5 Garden Maintenance Operator is an advanced, trade-qualified professional responsible for executing complex horticultural practices and landscaping projects. This role requires working in a team, advanced technical skills, and the ability to work alongside and support on-site teams to ensure premium presentation and health of residential, commercial, or public green spaces.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, weeding, edging, trimming, leaf blowing and general garden care to ensure gardens are kept in excellent condition.
- Perform landscaping tasks such as spreading mulch and soil, preparing garden beds for planting, laying turf and watering.
- Monitor plant health and identify any pest or disease issues, implementing appropriate solutions.
- Assist in the planting and establishment of new plants and garden features.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and safely stored.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute garden projects effectively.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and stakeholders, addressing any queries or concerns.
- Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard with attention to detail and quality outcomes.
- Assisting with on-the-job training and guiding team members as required.
Qualifications:
- Qualification in Horticulture or equivalent.
- Previous experience in garden maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and plant care.
- Ability to operate gardening tools and machinery safely.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for working outdoors.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
