We are seeking an experienced Workplace Health, Safety & Injury Manager to lead in this senior, influential role that plays a critical part in protecting our people, strengthening our safety culture, and delivering sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer , the Workplace Health, Safety & Injury Manager is responsible for developing, promoting, and managing strategies that support employee health and wellbeing, site safety, and injury management for the Cannon Hill site.
This role has a strong focus on prevention, early intervention, rehabilitation, and return-to-work outcomes, while ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, workers’ compensation requirements, and ACC policies. You will lead a team of WHS and injury management professionals and work closely with senior leaders to embed a consistent, high-performing safety culture across multiple operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ACC’s health, safety, wellbeing, and injury management strategy
- Drive year-on-year improvement with a strong focus in return-to-work and injury outcomes
- Manage complex injury claims and rehabilitation programs
- Identify WHS and injury risk trends and implement prevention initiatives
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, workers’ compensation, and ACC policies
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of WHS and injury management professionals
Partner with senior leaders to embed a strong, consistent safety culture

About You
Qualifications & Licences
- Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health (desirable)
- Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety (degree desirable)
- Accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
Current Driver’s Licence

Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in injury management and return-to-work roles
- Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation legislation and WHS frameworks
- Proven experience managing complex and serious injury claims
- Demonstrated success in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and early intervention strategies
- Comprehensive understanding of WHS Acts, Regulations, and Codes of Practice
- Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder engagement capability
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills
- Calm, analytical, and solutions-focused, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations
Self-starter with a strong sense of accountability and results orientation
