Allsale Plastic is a plastic sheet, rod and tube retailer who also offers fabrication and machining services to meet the needs of industry and the public, Australia wide. We’re looking for a Sales & Customer Service Officer to join our team in Smithfield.
This is a varied, hands-on office role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll be dealing directly with customers, helping them find the right products, preparing quotes, keeping jobs moving through the business and assisting with general office and technical tasks.
What you'll be doing
Your role will include:
- Answering incoming phone calls and email enquiries
- Assisting walk-in customers at our Smithfield location
- Providing product information and helping customers choose the right plastic for their application
- Preparing and following up quotes and orders
- Handling larger enquiries and orders, including working with customers on pricing where appropriate
- Expediting jobs that need to be completed urgently and keeping customers updated on progress
- Liaising with our warehouse, production and dispatch teams to keep orders moving
- Following up jobs where customers are particularly time-sensitive or need their order by a specific date
- Processing orders and carrying out general office administration
- Occasionally creating or modifying 2D drawings for laser cutting
- Assisting with other sales, production and office tasks as required
About you
You don't necessarily need extensive experience in the plastics industry. We're more interested in finding someone who is:
- Friendly and confident dealing with customers
- Organised and able to keep track of multiple jobs at once
- Comfortable answering the phone and communicating by email
- Proactive — if something is holding up a customer's order, you'll take ownership and find out what needs to happen
- Comfortable with numbers, geometry and basic calculations
- Computer literate and able to learn new software quickly
- A good communicator who can work well with both customers and the internal team
- Willing to learn about our products and how they're manufactured
- Able to work independently while also being part of a team
- Interested in developing their skills across sales, customer service, operations and technical work
Experience
Previous experience in customer service, sales, administration, manufacturing, building supplies or a trade environment would be beneficial, but it isn't essential.
We are happy to train the right person in our products, systems and processes.
Experience with CAD, Adobe Illustrator or similar design software would be a bonus, but is not required.
Why join us?
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a role that is more varied than a typical office or customer service position.
You'll get exposure to many different parts of the business, including:
- Sales and quoting
- Customer service
- Manufacturing and production
- Logistics and dispatch
- Plastic materials and their applications
- Laser cutting and technical design
As you become more experienced, there is plenty of opportunity to take on greater responsibility in areas that interest you.
