Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Design Draftsperson will join our Flexi Parts team on a fulltime basis at our Perth Precinct location.
The Design Draftsperson is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality technical drawings and 3D models that support the design, manufacture, and delivery of mining and heavy fabrication projects. Working closely with the FlexiParts Engineer, the role ensures all design documentation meets engineering specifications, industry standards, and client requirements to enable safe and efficient fabrication, assembly, and installation.
Roster – Monday – Friday Days, 8.5 Hrs (Including unpaid meal break)
What You'll Do
Lead by example, demonstrating WesTrac values in all actions and decisions.
Maintain a safe workplace by complying with safety procedures and Life Saving Rules.
Develop accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings using Inventor to meet customer requirements.
Prepare and manage accurate vendor quotations, prioritising customer needs and delivery timelines.
Build strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, and support for fabrication projects.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define design requirements and resolve issues.
Maintain engineering documentation in line with QMS and configuration control requirements.
Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across products, processes, and operations.
Skills & Experience:
Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting and/or Mechanical Trade qualification, with a strong understanding of mechanical, fabrication, and engineering design principles.
Minimum 5 years' industry experience producing professional engineering drawings and documentation using advanced CAD software.
Experience designing for fabrication, mechanical equipment, and/or mining and heavy equipment applications.
Strong communication, planning, organisational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
High attention to detail, with the ability to identify safety, compliance, and cost considerations within engineering solutions.
Commercial awareness, including an understanding of costing, pricing, and gross profit principles.
High Risk Work Licences (DG, LF, RB) highly regarded.
