The Magistrates Early Referral into Treatment (MERIT) is a voluntary pre-plea program for adults in the NSW Local Court who have issues related to their alcohol and/or other drug (AOD) use. MERIT provides access to a range of AOD treatment services for 12 weeks while court matters are adjourned. MERIT aims to reduce the harms associated with AOD use, improve health and wellbeing and reduce offending for adults who use AOD and are in contact with the criminal justice system

About the Role
The MERIT Manager is responsible for the operational management, leadership and coordination of the MERIT program within Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). The position ensures safe, effective and efficient delivery of high-quality services that are aligned with the NSW Health Clinical Care Standards for AOD Treatment, the NSW MERIT Model of Care, and the NSW MERIT Operational Manual.
Your responsibilities will include:
Deliver, promote and maintain a multidisciplinary multi agency service structure, capable of delivering the MERIT program within MLHD.
Maintain a cost-effective method of service delivery which maximises resources and promotes sustainability.
Provide leadership and operational management for the MERIT teams including recruitment, orientation, POSITION DESCRIPTION MLHD - MERIT Manager PD072106 - 2 professional development, work health safety and staff wellbeing, industrial matters, rostering and leave management.
Model the organisation's commitment to high quality evidence-based care, consumer participation, innovative service delivery and provide leadership to enable all MERIT staff to provide the same.
Deliver on clinical performance of the team and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) though providing clear role expectations and accountability for the MERIT staff.
Participate in the conduct of research as appropriate to the role and service directions and initiate original research projects.
Maintain regular communication with Magistrates and other key stakeholders, in relation to service delivery in Local Courts.
Chair or co-chair regular team meetings to ensure structured communication with a focus on patient safety and quality including investigation and management of complaints, local quality improvement projects, auditing and action plan implementation.
Participate in Serious Adverse Event Reviews (SAER) and implement and monitor recommendations
Participate in district meetings and committees to ensure an awareness of MLHD strategic priorities, plans, strategies and directions, and communicate these to the MERIT team.
Lead the implementation of NSW Health and MLHD strategies, models of care, new services, systems, processes and interventions as they relate to MERIT.
Participate in state-wide activity occurring as part of the MERIT program and other relevant activities.
Deliver on finance and performance KPIs for MERIT

What We’re Looking For
Relevant tertiary Qualifications relevant to Alcohol and Other Drugs service delivery, including psychology; nursing; social Work; occupational therapy or related field
Clinical and management experience, working within Alcohol and Other Drugs
Advanced leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
