Location: Australia (Remote, with occasional client-site or hybrid presence)
Experience: 8–12 years total, including 6+ years hands-on Sitecore
Engagement: Freelance / Contract / Consultant — full-time or part-time, flexible
Team: Small, senior, product-and-services hybrid. You will be one of a handful of people, not one of a hundred.
About the role
We are a growing digital experience practice. We do not have layers between the person who talks to the client and the person who writes the code — and we are not looking to add any. This role is for a consultant who is equally comfortable running a discovery workshop on Monday morning, debugging a Solr index on Monday afternoon, and presenting a migration roadmap on Tuesday.
If you are looking for a narrow architecture role where someone else handles delivery, or a pure development role where someone else handles the client, this is not it. If you want ownership of a client relationship end-to-end and the autonomy that comes with it, read on.
What you'll actually do- Own the client relationship
● Run discovery sessions, technical workshops, and solution walkthroughs directly with client stakeholders — often without a BA or PM in the room
● Translate business goals into scoped, estimated, defensible technical proposals
● Manage expectations on scope, timelines, and trade-offs; say no when no is the right answer
● Produce the documentation clients actually need: solution designs, migration plans, handover guides, runbooks, test cases
● Act as the escalation point when something breaks in production
Architect and build
● Lead architecture, design, and implementation on Sitecore XP 10.4+ and XM Cloud
● Design headless and composable architectures — XM Cloud, Sitecore JSS, Next.js/React front ends
● Implement Helix-aligned solutions and hold the line on structure as projects grow
● Manage serialization and environment promotion via SCS / Unicorn / TDS
● Integrate Sitecore with CRMs, PIMs, commerce platforms, and third-party APIs (REST / GraphQL)
● Write code yourself. This is a hands-on role at every seniority level.
Migrate and modernise
● Own migration strategy and execution: XP → XM Cloud, and from non-Sitecore platforms (AEM, Sitefinity, WordPress, Drupal, Kentico, custom CMS) onto Sitecore
● Audit legacy implementations, map content models, and plan content and media migration at scale
● Build and run migration tooling — content mapping scripts, bulk import/export, URL and redirect strategy, SEO preservation
● Plan cutover: parallel running, rollback paths, DNS and CDN switchover, post-launch validation
Make sites fast and keep them up
● Diagnose and fix real performance problems: Core Web Vitals, caching strategy, Solr/Search tuning, rendering and datasource optimisation, database and index health
● Establish performance budgets and monitoring rather than treating speed as a launch-week scramble
● Security hardening, patching, and scalability review as standard practice, not an afterthought
● Support CI/CD and Azure deployment work alongside DevOps (App Services, Azure DevOps pipelines; containers a plus)
Help build the practice
● Mentor junior developers and review their work
● Contribute to pre-sales: estimates, proposals, solution decks, RFPs, client demos
● Support and help drive our Sitecore partnership — meeting partner-tier certification and enablement requirements, maintaining referenceable implementations and case studies, engaging with Sitecore product and partner teams, and identifying co-sell and joint-GTM opportunities
Requirements- Sitecore (mandatory)
● 6+ years hands-on Sitecore delivery, with at least one full lifecycle as the lead architect or lead developer
● Strong, current experience on Sitecore XP 10.4 — non-negotiable
● Deep understanding of Sitecore architecture, content modelling, and templates
● SXA and personalisation in production, not just in training
● Helix principles applied at scale
● Serialization: SCS / Unicorn / TDS
● Marketing Automation and analytics exposure
Modern / composable DXP
● Hands-on XM Cloud delivery experience (strongly preferred; XM Cloud certification or a completed implementation both count)
● Headless CMS implementation experience
● Working understanding of composable DXP architecture and where Sitecore fits alongside other vendors
● Exposure to Sitecore's AI capabilities (Sitecore Stream / AI-assisted authoring and personalisation) — a differentiator, not a blocker
Frontend & integration
● Strong Next.js / React
● Sitecore JSS in production
● Solid grasp of SSR vs SSG and the rendering trade-offs that follow
● REST and GraphQL integration
Cloud & DevOps
● Microsoft Azure — App Services, Azure DevOps
● CI/CD pipeline configuration and troubleshooting
● Docker / Kubernetes exposure (good to have)
Certifications
● Sitecore Certified Developer — mandatory
● Sitecore XP 10 Certification — preferred
● Sitecore XM Cloud Certification — strongly preferred
● Sitecore MVP — a plus, and we will actively support your nomination if you're not one yet
● Willingness to complete additional Sitecore certifications required to maintain and advance our partner tier
Who this suits
● You can hold a room of client stakeholders and a debugger with equal confidence
● You estimate honestly and defend your numbers
● You are comfortable with ambiguity, thin process, and shifting priorities — because that is the reality of a small team
● You context-switch across two or three clients in a week without dropping threads
● You document well enough that the next person doesn't have to ask you
● You have opinions about Sitecore and can argue them without being difficult
Who this doesn't suit
● Anyone who does not use AI tools.
● Anyone who needs a fully-specced ticket before starting work
● Architects who don't code
● Developers who don't want client contact
● Anyone whose Sitecore experience stopped at version 9
How to apply
Send your CV to [email protected] along with:
1. Two Sitecore implementations you led — your specific role, the architecture, and what you'd do differently now
2. A migration you ran (platform, content volume, timeline, what went wrong)
3. Your Sitecore certification IDs
4. Availability, preferred engagement model, and time-zone overlap with India you can commit to
Short technical conversation first, then a scenario-based architecture and estimation discussion. No take-home coding tests.
