Alya is seeking experienced and confident Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Workers.
This role is about providing more than day-to-day assistance. We are looking for workers who can build a genuine and trusting relationship while supporting the participants to build
Your supports will include:
- Supporting daily living skills and establishing positive routines
- Building confidence and independence around the home
- Encouraging and assisting with household tasks, meal preparation and self-care
- Supporting community access, appointments, shopping and everyday activities
- Building motivation and supporting participants to work towards individual goals
- Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support
- Recognising changes in presentation, behaviour or wellbeing
- Responding calmly and appropriately during periods of distress or escalation
- Maintaining clear and consistent professional boundaries
- Using de-escalation and positive engagement strategies
- Supporting informed choice while appropriately managing identified risks
- Following individual support plans, risk management strategies and established procedures
- Completing clear and accurate shift documentation
- Communicating effectively with the participants wider support team
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for strong, experienced and emotionally grounded workers who are comfortable working within complex psychosocial environments.
You will need to know how to build trust without losing professional boundaries, provide encouragement without taking over, and remain calm and consistent when situations become challenging.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have strong experience in mental health or psychosocial disability support
- Have experience supporting people living with schizophrenia or other complex mental health conditions
- Are confident responding to behaviours of concern and changing presentations
- Have experience supporting people where alcohol and/or substance use may be present
- Understand risk, professional boundaries and appropriate escalation
- Can remain calm, respectful and confident in challenging situations
- Take a trauma-informed, non-judgemental and person-centred approach
- Can encourage independence rather than creating reliance on support
- Are proactive and confident working independently
- Have strong observational, communication and documentation skills
- Are reliable and understand the importance of consistency in psychosocial support
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in mental health, psychosocial disability or complex support
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- QLD Blue Card
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable vehicle and comprehensive car insurance
