What does a Business Analyst do at NextGen?
The Business Analyst partners with product, design and engineering to discover, validate and deliver new product opportunities that address customer needs and strategic business objectives. This role focuses on translating customer insights and market trends into clear requirements, supporting experimentation and prototyping, and ensuring that new features and products are delivered with measurable customer value. The role is collaborative, data-informed and customer-centred, suitable for someone with strong analytical skills, product thinking and experience working in cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Discovery & Research: Lead user research, stakeholder interviews and market analysis to identify customer problems, opportunity areas and product hypotheses.
Requirement Definition: Translate research findings and business objectives into clear, testable requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for design and engineering teams.
Experimentation & Prototyping: Design and run experiments, support prototype development, and work with analytics to measure outcomes and validate assumptions.
Roadmap & Prioritisation: Contribute to product roadmaps by evaluating opportunity size, effort and risk; help prioritise initiatives that align with strategic goals and customer impact.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers and data teams to ensure timely delivery of innovation initiatives and to maintain a clear line of sight from problem to outcome.
Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present concise summaries, demo sessions and progress updates for internal stakeholders and leadership to align expectations and decision-making.
Continuous Improvement: Capture learnings from experiments and releases, iterate on approaches, and help mature processes for discovery, prioritisation and measurement across the product organisation.
Regulatory & Risk Awareness: Work with legal and compliance where required to ensure that proposed innovations align with relevant regulatory and privacy requirements, particularly in the fintech and Open Banking domains.
Essential Skills & Experience
3 years experience in a similar role, partnering with Product Managers to align, prioritize, and manage high-impact feature roadmaps against business deadlines.
Strong ability to capture complex business requirements, map intricate customer journeys/data logic, and translate them into actionable user stories.
Proven hands-on experience running Agile sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, estimation, and managing cross-team dependencies.
Experience partnering with Technical Leads and Solution Architects to design robust solutions that meet architectural standards.
Hands-on experience performing rigorous feature validation to guarantee 100% data integrity and training QA teams on complex domain logic.
Skilled at proactively managing internal and external customer expectations regarding releases, bug fixes, and timeline changes.
Experience managing deployment schedules with Change Control and writing release notes that articulate technical updates and business value.
Ability to collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Training teams to create educational materials and drive successful feature rollouts.
