About us:
Innisfail is the southern section of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS), 88km south of Cairns and approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by road.
The aim of the Cassowary Hub Maternity service is to empower women to birth locally with the provision of safe and appropriate gold standard of midwifery care services for women in the rural geographical location of Cassowary Hub, North Queensland.
Maternity has 3 allocated (2 funded) beds, a consult room and 2 birthing suits, providing public obstetric care to women in the Cassowary Hub community. Cassowary Hub Maternity also offers Shared Care - between local General Practitioners and the hospitals. The obstetric service has a 24-hour, 7 day a week operating theatre service to support emergency and elective lower uterine segment caesarean sections if required.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will....
Promote cooperation, teamwork, and understanding in undertaking generalist and/or specialist midwifery practices for effective health outcomes.
Maintain sound knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards specifically relating to midwifery practice and ensure safe, appropriate application of same.
Assume responsibility for professional leadership of the maternity ward, service, or unit in the absence of the Maternity Unit Manager and Associate Maternity Unit Manager.
Effectively manage self-development/mandatory training and work with the Maternity Unit Manager and Midwifery Educator to meet midwifery staff development needs.
