We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Technician to bridge the gap between engineering design and hands-on project execution.
About the role
In this position, you will support our engineering and project teams in planning, designing, testing, and commissioning clean energy systems. This is an exceptional opportunity for a technician passionate about solar, battery storage, and the future of renewable energy infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
· Assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of commercial and residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and associated electrical infrastructure.
· Conduct site inspections and technical assessments to determine system requirements, installation feasibility and compliance with project specifications.
· Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, technical specifications and engineering documentation for solar and battery installation projects.
· Prepare technical documentation, equipment schedules, material lists and installation reports for engineering and project management purposes.
· Assist engineers in designing, testing and commissioning solar PV systems, battery storage systems, inverters and related electrical equipment.
· Monitor installation activities to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, manufacturer specifications, engineering requirements and company quality procedures.
· Perform testing, fault diagnosis and performance analysis of solar panels, inverters, battery systems and monitoring equipment using specialised testing instruments.
· Analyse system performance data and recommend improvements to maximise energy efficiency, system reliability and operational performance.
· Coordinate with electricians, engineers, suppliers and project managers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and within scheduled timeframes.
· Inspect completed installations and prepare commissioning documentation, test records and compliance reports for project handover.
· Assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules and technical procedures for solar and battery installations.
· Investigate equipment failures, identify technical issues and recommend engineering solutions to minimise downtime.
· Maintain accurate technical records, project documentation and asset registers.
· Ensure all work complies with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, environmental requirements, Australian Standards and company policies.
· Provide technical support and advice to project teams and clients regarding solar PV systems, battery storage technologies and renewable energy solutions.
· Keep abreast of emerging renewable energy technologies, engineering practices and relevant Australian Standards.
Skills and qualifications
· Education: Advanced Diploma / Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a relevant electrical trade qualification with strong technical experience in renewables.
· Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, and technical specifications.
· Analytical Skills: Experience using specialised testing instruments for fault diagnosis and performance data analysis.
· Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate between trades, engineers, and clients.
· Driver's Licence: Valid WA driver's licence for site inspections and travel around the Perth metropolitan area.
