Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Commercial Estimator, Cost Planner or similar role
- Current knowledge of construction industry pricing and market conditions
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials and labour requirements
- Current South Australian drivers' licence
A Typical Day
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
- Ensure high level of client satisfaction and long-term client retention
- Review and interpret architectural, structural, engineering and other project documentation
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates, quantity take-offs and cost plans
- Analyse project drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender requirements
- Obtain, assess and negotiate quotations from contractors and suppliers
- Providing precise and accurate project cost estimates
- Prepare requests for quotations and ensure all relevant trade packages are adequately priced
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential cost-saving opportunities
- Develop detailed bills of quantities and pricing schedules
- Prepare and submit competitive tender proposals within required deadlines
- Compare contractor and supplier quotations and ensure pricing is commercially sound
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors and suppliers throughout the tender process
- Conduct site visits and assess site conditions where required
- Maintain accurate estimating records, databases and historical cost information
- Assist with project handovers from estimating to operations
- Monitor market conditions, material costs, labour rates and industry trends
- Ensure estimates comply with company procedures, project requirements and applicable standards
