About the Role
The APAC Merchant Tech Lead (Ordering Modality) is responsible for defining and driving APAC's strategy across the merchant device and ordering modality ecosystem, across hardware/tablet solutions, web and app adoption/update, and POS/API integrations. This role identifies the region's high-impact opportunities, influences the global product roadmap, and accelerates adoption of solutions that improve merchant experience, unlock growth, and strengthen operational excellence in the APAC region.
Reporting to the Head of Central Operations, this role partners closely with the Global Merchant Ordering Strike Team (global partners from other regions), Product Management, Product Operations, regional/local Commercial teams to translate APAC's strategic priorities into scalable product solutions. As the regional Merchant Tech lead, the successful candidate will build strategic technology partnerships, shape integration strategies, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value for merchants and Uber across APAC.
What You'll Do
- Own APAC's Merchant Tech strategy for Ordering Modality across the end-to-end merchant technology ecosystem, including tablet solutions, merchant applications, POS systems, APIs, and partner integrations.
- Establish a regional source of truth for merchant ordering channels, POS eligibility, tablet lifecycle, reliability performance, and channel economics.
- Define APAC's merchant ordering strategy, including the preferred ordering modality by merchant archetype, balancing merchant experience, reliability, scalability, and profitability.
- Assess the integration ecosystem, identify capability gaps, and develop a prioritised roadmap for integrations, migrations, and technology investments.
- Establish a framework to prioritise integration opportunities based on business impact, partner readiness, investment requirements, and sequencing.
- Define regional standards for merchant technology, including tablet hardware, merchant applications, device lifecycle, integration quality, and operational best practices.
- Develop scalable operating models across supply chain, device lifecycle, returns, governance, and partner support to improve operational efficiency.
- Build business cases and influence global product strategy, engineering investment, and roadmap priorities through data-driven regional insights.
- Represent APAC in global Merchant Technology planning and lead complex cross-functional initiatives across Product, Engineering, Product Operations, Commercial, local markets, and strategic technology partners.

What You'll Need
- Strong business and commercial acumen, with the ability to evaluate opportunities and make pragmatic trade-offs between commercial value, technical feasibility, and operational complexity.
- Experience leading strategic technology partnerships or enterprise integrations, including shaping partnership strategy, negotiating delivery approaches, and adapting to changing partner capabilities and priorities.
- Experience across multiple merchant technology domains, including several of the following: tablet ecosystems, merchant applications, POS providers, APIs, SaaS platforms, payment or partner integrations, and enterprise software.
- Proven ability to influence Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Operations teams without direct authority.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a structured, execution-oriented mindset.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years' experience in Product Management, Product Operations, Technical Partnerships, Solutions Engineering, Technical Programme Management, or Strategy & Operations.
- Experience shaping product roadmaps or technology investment decisions in a global organisation.
- Experience leading regional technology strategy, product adoption, or enterprise integration programmes.
Experience working across APAC or other geographically distributed organisations.
