Experienced Barista – TRU Coffee, Balwyn
TRU Coffee is looking for an experienced, passionate barista to join our team in Balwyn.
This is a coffee-first role for someone who genuinely cares about espresso, milk texture, consistency and creating a great café experience for regular customers. You will be one of the key people behind the machine each day, responsible for producing quality coffee at speed while helping create the friendly, welcoming atmosphere TRU Coffee is known for.
We are looking for someone who knows how to run a busy coffee section confidently, communicate well with customers and work closely with the rest of the front-of-house team.
The role
As one of our baristas, you will be responsible for:
- Producing consistently high-quality espresso coffee in a busy café environment
- Dialling in coffee throughout the day and adjusting grind, dose and extraction as required
- Texturing milk confidently across a full range of coffees and alternative milks
- Maintaining speed, quality and presentation during peak service periods
- Keeping the coffee machine, grinders and bar area clean, organised and well maintained
- Building relationships with regular customers and remembering orders where possible
- Taking customer orders, managing POS transactions and assisting with front-of-house service when required
- Supporting food running, clearing tables and keeping the café looking sharp during service
- Assisting with opening, closing, stock rotation and daily cleaning procedures
- Working closely with the kitchen and FOH team to ensure service runs smoothly
What we are looking for
- Minimum 1–2 years’ barista experience in a busy café
- Strong espresso knowledge, including dialling in, extraction, grind adjustment and workflow management
- Confident milk texturing and latte art skills
- Ability to produce quality coffee quickly without compromising consistency
- Experience working with specialty coffee or a genuine interest in improving coffee knowledge
- Friendly, confident and engaging personality with strong customer-service skills
- Reliable, punctual and able to take ownership of the coffee section
- A calm attitude under pressure and willingness to support the wider team
- Availability across weekdays and weekends is highly regarded
