Horse Trainer – Full-time
Newgate Operations Pty Ltd is currently seeking a highly experienced and capable staff member to join our team. We are looking for a motivated, determined and experienced individual who has horse stud experience.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.
Horse Trainer/Breeding - Yearlings
Duties will include:
o Training and preparing horses for major sales
o Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
o Teaching horses to walk, stand, and parade correctly
o Parade and caring for horses at sales
o Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
o Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kicking
o Overseeing/training breeding mares and weanlings when required
Essential Skills:
o All applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years full time professional experience in the role
o Proven knowledge and experience of horse handling and training methods specific to thoroughbred breeding industry
o Ability to train and educate thoroughbred horses
o Proven ability to prepare yearlings for sale
o Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and prepare basic reports
o Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and breeding of horses
Desirable Skills:
o A relevant Australian or International qualification
Terms of Employment
This is a full-time position, with a minimum commitment of at least 3 years.
The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $82,500 per annum plus superannuation. On farm accommodation may also be provided.
