Vacupack is a fast-growing plastics manufacturer supplying packaging products to some of the largest food producers in Australia and internationally. Our products can be found across supermarket shelves, and we are committed to quality, innovation and reliable manufacturing.
We are seeking a capable and technically minded Plastics Machine Operator to work across our thermoforming and extrusion production lines.
Available shifts
- Day shift: 6:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Afternoon shift: 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Night shift: 10:00 pm to 6:00 am
Monday to Friday.
This is a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating production equipment, monitoring product quality, packing finished plastic packaging and supporting the smooth operation of the production line.
Duties and responsibilities
- Operate thermoforming and extrusion machinery safely and efficiently
- Set up, start, monitor and shut down production equipment as required
- Monitor machine performance and report mechanical or process issues
- Complete product quality checks throughout the production run
- Identify defects and take appropriate action before affected product is packed
- Pack, label and palletise finished plastic packaging
- Assist with roll changes, material changes and basic machine adjustments
- Maintain accurate production and quality records
- Follow GMP, food-safety and clean-room requirements
- Complete routine cleaning and housekeeping duties
- Work closely with tool setters, technicians, supervisors and quality personnel
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
Skills and experience
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
- Previous machine-operating experience in plastics, packaging, food manufacturing or a similar FMCG environment
- Experience with thermoforming, extrusion or automated production equipment is highly desirable
- Good mechanical or technical aptitude
- Ability to monitor machinery and identify production or quality issues
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment
- Understanding of quality control and quality-assurance requirements
- GMP knowledge is highly desirable
- Ability to perform regular manual handling and physical production duties
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions
- Reliable attendance and availability for the nominated shift
- Forklift licence is preferred but not essential
Training will be provided; however, previous technical machine-operating experience will be highly regarded.
Pay: From $36.00 per hour
