About the Role
As Chief of Modality, Breast Imaging at Jones Radiology, you will provide the highest level of clinical and technical expertise within the Breast Imaging team, ensuring patients receive safe, accurate and timely care across mammography, breast ultrasound and interventional procedures. This role is responsible for resolving complex cases and equipment issues, training and developing staff, and overseeing day-to-day rostering, bookings and billing operations. You will report to the Modality Manager, with the 2IC Chief of Modality, Breast Imaging reporting to this role.
A typical day might include:

Acting as the primary contact for radiologist matters relating to the modality

Collaboration with radiologists, on-site clinical, management and administrative teams with operational planning

Overseeing day-to-day rostering, bookings and billing operations for the team

Mentoring and upskilling junior and existing staff including supervision, case review and feedback

Working clinically including procedures such as VABs, stereotactic and hookwire localisations, and carbon track marking

Non-clinical time is also allocated to support the duties and responsibilities of the role
Key Requirements
-
Demonstrated expert-level experience in breast imaging, including mammography and interventional breast procedures
-
Proven ability to train, supervise and mentor staff
-
Proficient RIS and PACS workflows, bookings, preparation and billing processes
-
Demonstrated ability to manage rostering and resourcing decisions that balance staff skills, radiologist requirements and patient needs

Strong stakeholder management skills, including resolving radiologist, referrer, clinical and administrative teams

Valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain
Desirable skills, experience and qualifications
-
Relevant tertiary qualification in Medical Radiation Science, Diagnostic Radiography or Sonography

Certificate of Mammographic Practice
-
Current registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry

Experience in breast ultrasound and US guided interventional breast procedures

Experience in VABs, MRI and CEM follow-up imaging, core biopsies, FNAs, hookwire localisations and carbon track marking
