Job Summary
As an HVDC Site Manager at Hitachi, Ltd., you will be responsible for the overall successful execution of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects on-site, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards while prioritizing safety.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on-site activities for HVDC converter station and transmission line projects, from mobilization through commissioning and handover.
- Develop and implement detailed project execution plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, including civil works, electrical installations, mechanical installations, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Manage and coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring clear communication and efficient workflow.
- Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures on-site, conducting regular safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Monitor project progress against established baselines, identify potential risks and deviations, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
- Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and local authorities regarding on-site matters.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive project reports, progress updates, and documentation to senior management and clients.
- Resolve technical and logistical challenges that arise during project execution.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment among all on-site personnel.
Job Qualifications
- Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management within the power transmission industry, with at least 5 years specifically managing HVDC projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale HVDC converter station or transmission line projects.
- In-depth knowledge of HVDC technology, equipment, and construction methodologies.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and quality control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
- Demonstrated experience in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and client relationships.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Strong understanding of international health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging remote or international environments.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other languages may be an advantage depending on project location.
- Willingness to travel extensively and relocate to project sites for extended periods.
