Located in Melbourne's CBD, San Telmo is one of Australia's most recognised Argentinian restaurants. Since opening in 2011, San Telmo has built a reputation for exceptional hospitality, premium produce and authentic wood-fired cooking inspired by the parrillas of Argentina.
We are currently seeking a Casual Kitchen Hand to join our growing kitchen team.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely wants to build a long-term career in hospitality and develop their knowledge of Latin American food and cooking. Whether you're looking to take the first step into a professional kitchen or continue building your culinary experience, you'll be working alongside a passionate team dedicated to training and development.
As a Kitchen Hand, you'll play a critical role in supporting the kitchen operation by maintaining cleanliness, organisation and efficiency throughout service. You'll gain exposure to a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment while learning how one of Melbourne's leading hospitality groups operates.
Responsibilities
As a Kitchen Hand at San Telmo, your day-to-day will involve:
- Washing dishes, cookware, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation tasks where required
- Receiving, unpacking and storing deliveries
- Managing waste disposal and recycling procedures
- Supporting kitchen setup and pack down
- Ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times

Essential Requirements
- A genuine interest in building a career within the food and hospitality industry
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Good time-management and organisational skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Rights to work in Australia
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting kitchen equipment where required
Highly Regarded
- At least 12 months' experience as a Kitchen Hand or in a similar hospitality role
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Interest in Latin American cuisine and cooking techniques
- Food Safety Certificate or relevant hospitality training
