To support our growing operations, we are seeking an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, tractors, mowers, trucks, and specialised mobile plant.
About the Role
As a Diesel Motor Mechanic, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our fleet by carrying out diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Your work will help minimise equipment downtime and ensure machinery is maintained to the highest operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles, tractors, front deck mowers, trucks, and specialised mobile plant.
- Inspect, test, and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, PTO components, and electrical systems.
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and computer-based testing systems to identify and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
- Interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and workshop instructions to complete repairs accurately.
- Service and repair suspension, cooling, hydraulic, fuel, emission control, and electrical systems.
- Conduct post-repair testing, calibration, and performance checks to verify equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and job cards accurately.
- Monitor equipment condition and recommend repairs or replacement of worn components.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organised condition.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and operations staff to minimise equipment downtime and support daily field operations.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Experience using diagnostic scan tools and computer-based testing equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and service documentation.
- Good troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Relevant trade qualification in Diesel Motor Mechanics or equivalent.
- Current driver's licence (preferred).
