About the Role
Westbourne Swim Club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Swim Coach – Development Lead to oversee our Development and Junior Squad programs. This role is essential in building strong athlete pathways, supporting participation growth, and developing swimmers as they transition into a high-performance environment.
Working closely with the Head Coach, the successful applicant will provide leadership across the junior program, mentor developing athletes, support coaching staff, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the club.
This role is well suited to an experienced and enthusiastic coach looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to play a key role in shaping one of the fastest growing swim programs in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs.
About You
- Passion for swimming and athlete development, with the ability to engage, motivate and inspire young swimmers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a growing coaching team
- Strong knowledge and understanding of swimming technique and athlete development
- The ability to build positive relationships with swimmers, parents, and staff
- A strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to club culture
- Excellent organisational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the Development and Junior Squad programs
- Supporting swimmer progression into performance pathways
- Providing feedback and guidance to athletes and families
- Assisting with club education, resources, and business development initiatives
- Supporting talent identification and transition pathways from Learn to Swim and school programs
- Attending competitions and club events as required
- Collecting and maintaining athlete development data and monthly reporting
- Supporting the professional development of swim school staff and junior coaches
